Aqua & Hutong, The Shard, London
For Aqua Level 31 & Hutong Level 33, the main contractor, WFC, secured this project to fit out the 31st floor of the iconic Shard building at London Bridge..
This was a multi-million pound restaurant project and had to be completed in a short timescale of 11 weeks (at the same time as Hutong on Level 33), which presented some extremely demanding logistical and program challenges.
WFC put together a team that relished the task of facing up to these challenges and the expertise of SWS was drawn on.
BBC Worldwide recently ranked the Shard amongst the top eight most beautiful skyscrapers. Standing alongside some of the most impressive high-rise buildings in the world is a bit of an honour. Renzo Piano's glass vertical city has clearly made a lasting impression on the world, as have many of his architectural achievements including the Pompidou Centre and the New York Times Building.
SWS brief included the requirement to supply door closers and ironmongery to secret pocket door situations.
